GV80 & G90 Earn Good Housekeeping Awards | Harlingen, TX
For the last six years, Good Housekeeping and Car and Driver have teamed up to assess the best family cars of that model year. As part of this process, the editors and judges evaluate sedans, SUVs, subcompacts, and more, in a variety of categories including safety, infotainment, style, and sustainability that may be important to different families.
We at Genesis of Harlingen here in Harlingen, Texas, are pleased to announce that two Genesis models earned top awards this year: The Genesis G90 was named the Best Luxury Full-Size Sedan for families, and the Genesis GV80 was named the Best Luxury Midsize SUV for families.
About the methodology
To determine a winner in each of the segments, the Good Housekeeping team drove more than 5,000 miles, installed more than 100 car seats, and tested just as many infotainment systems. The team considered things like road noise, efficiency, ease of car seat installation, safety, USB charging, cargo space, and more, when assessing winners.
Genesis G90
Standout features for the G90 in the Luxury Full-Size Sedan category were its easy smartphone integration, the heated and cooled front seats, and the features that come standard that are typically optional (re: extra) on competitors. Judges were also impressed by the powertrain warranty (10 years or 100,000 miles) and Smart Posture Care, the automaker’s 22-way adjustable driver’s seat, mirror, head-up display, and steering wheel.
Genesis GV80
Although a newcomer to the Genesis lineup, the Genesis GV80 had no trouble impressing in the Best Luxury Midsize SUV category. Judges complimented its exterior styling, sophisticated interior, and high performance output. Specifically, the judges lauded the semi-autonomous driving mode and automated emergency braking, among other standard driver-assist technologies that enhance safety. Good Housekeeping also praised the Smart Cruise Control’s use of machine learning, which caters to specific drivers and their unique style.
